Sheep & Wool

The Garden State Sheep Breeders is a non-profit, educational organization promoting sheep and wool products in New Jersey. We regularly hold educational and business meetings, sponsor awards at events where sheep and wool products are featured, and host an annual sheep and fiber festival.

Festival

Our 14th Annual Sheep & Fiber Festival will take place on October 4-5, 2008 at the Hunterdon County Fairgrounds. Many sheep activities are planned including an Open Sheep Show, sheep shearing, Border Collies herding sheep and ducks, and a fleece show and sale. Come join us for a day in the country!

Meetings

Our meetings feature speakers talking on a variety of sheep related subjects. Recent topics have been on lambing, pasture management, color sheep genetics and making cheese from sheep's milk.

Meetings are open to the public. They are held at 7:30 PM at the Hunterdon County Extension Center in Flemington, NJ located on Gauntt Place just north of the Hunterdon Medical Center off Route 31. Click for directions.

Membership

Most of our members have small flocks and are hobby farmers. Many sell breeding stock, wool products, and handmade craft items. Check out each member's webpage for more information on items for sale. Dues are $15.00/year for a single membership and $20.00/year for a family. See membership form for more information.
